 KANOA kayaks was founded in 2015 in San Juan, Puerto Rico by a young couple that built a brand combining their passion for paddling with their love for Puerto Rico's beautiful coasts, rivers, and lakes. The name KANOA is a tribute to our great Taino culture heritage, these ancestors were known to paddle tirelessly throughout the Antilles Islands & Caribbean Sea for incredible distances on giant wooden paddle boats, called "CANOAS". 

The term "CANOA" was the first taino word introduced in the Spanish dictionary over 5 centuries ago.
